KYC Update and Recertification

To continue to remain compliant, we require your end-users to stay compliant. This means that Lemonway will periodically require accounts to be recertified. In general, this is a straightforward process and depending on the account type, risk associated with the account holder, the recertification has different due dates ranging from 12 months to 5 years.

This process is automated, but it has a direct operational impact on your users and their ability to transact. As a partner, your role is to monitor, anticipate, and act when required.

In terms of transparency, you will be able to have a clear overview of all your accounts in the Dashboard, with information pertaining to an account's status.

1. KYC Update Requested

We ensure that a KYC Update is automatically triggered ahead of the next verification deadline to enable you to have business continuity. However, it's always best to identify your end-user

At this point:

A KYC Update requirement is created on the Account
A due date is assigned
A pre-filled onboarding form is generated

👉 The user is expected to review and submit updated information.

What you should do

Generate and share the recertification link
Make sure the user completes the update before the deadline
Monitor accounts approaching their due date

2. Under Analysis

Once the user submits their update:

The requirement moves to Under Analysis
The file is being reviewed by Compliance

👉 The process is now on Lemonway’s side.

What you should do

No action required
Optionally inform the user that their submission is under review

3. Accepted or Rejected

Accepted

The update is validated
The requirement disappears
The account continues to operate normally

Rejected

Additional information is required
The status becomes Rejected

👉 The process loops back to the user.

What you should do

Notify the user quickly
Help them resubmit without delay
Regenerate the recertification link if needed

4. KYC Outdated → Account Restricted

If the deadline is missed:

The account is flagged as KYC outdated
A restriction is applied
Wallets may be blocked or limited

👉 This directly impacts the user’s ability to transact.

What you should do (priority)

Act immediately
Generate a recertification link
Inform the user that their account is restricted
Follow up until completion

5. Account Restored

Once the update is completed and validated:

The requirement is removed
The restriction is lifted
Full access is restored

👉 The account returns to normal operation.

This link is the entry point for users to complete their KYC Update.

You can generate it:

From the Dashboard
Via API: GET /onboardings/{onboardingId}/resume

Expires after first use
Can be regenerated at any time

Accounts requiring action
Accounts under review
Restricted accounts

You can:

Track the current KYC status
See the due date
Understand the restriction impact
Generate recertification links

What matters operationally

Don’t wait for accounts to become restricted
Treat Rejected as urgent (it blocks progress)
Always prioritise restricted accounts
Use filters and alerts to stay ahead

The account status remains ACCEPTED throughout
KYC Updates are handled via:
- requirements → request lifecycle
- restrictions → enforcement layer
Status changes are communicated via webhook notifications
